SONOS CLUB : JUS PETE
Jus PETE brings an unmistakable energy to the decks a seamless blend of House, Deep Tech, and a touch of UKG that’s become his signature sound. His latest mix for SONOSCLUB captures that exact essence: rolling grooves, slick percussion, and infectious basslines designed to keep the dance floor moving from start to finish.
Having started DJing at just 16, PETE quickly found himself immersed in the UK’s underground house scene throughout his early 20s. His breakthrough came with a guest mix on KISS 100, where he brought the Ibiza vibe to national radio a defining moment that propelled him into the spotlight. From there, he secured a residency at EGG LDN and went on to play at some of Londons most iconic venues for up and coming DJs including Ministry of Sound and Pacha.
Alongside his club career, PETE co-founded the NO FAKING party brand, which leaned deeper into the UK garage and underground scene.
After a 10-year break from the circuit, he’s back finely tuned and matured like a fine wine under his new alias Jus PETE. His evolved sound fuses deep tech and garage influences into something warm, rhythmic, and always party-focused.
For PETE, it’s all about the dance floor. His sets are built to make people move, connect, and lose themselves in the moment
INTERVIEW
What made you fall in love with DJing, and how has your approach evolved?
JUS PETE: I fell in love with DJing as a teenager. I was about 16 when I first touched decks, and from that moment, I was hooked. There was something magical about being able to control the energy of a room through music. As I got deeper into the UK underground scene, my style naturally evolved. I started off chasing the high-energy party vibe, but over time I’ve learned to appreciate subtlety, the groove, the flow, the journey. Now it’s less about playing bangers and more about building an atmosphere that feels alive and connects with people on a deeper level.
How do you craft a sound that feels personal while still connecting with a wider audience?
JUS PETE: For me, it’s all about balance. My sound is heavily rooted in House and Deep Tech, but I always sprinkle in those UKG influences that shaped me early on. That mix of bounce and groove keeps it personal, but still universal enough for any crowd. I think people connect most when they can feel your authenticity. If you play what genuinely moves you, the crowd feels that energy.
Are there any unexpected influences that have shaped your music selection or style?
JUS PETE: Definitely. I’ve always been inspired by the rhythm and soul of old-school garage and late 90s and early 00s dance music those swingy drums and vocal chops sneak their way into my sets.. It’s not just about BPMs it’s about groove and feeling.
How do you keep your sets fresh and unpredictable?
JUS PETE: I never stop digging. I’m constantly searching for new (and old) music from promos, Bandcamp, SoundCloud, even old vinyl rips. I love blending unreleased or lesser-known tracks with recognisable sounds to keep the crowd guessing. For me, the best sets are the ones that surprise you but still make perfect sense in the moment.
Do you prefer to plan your sets in advance or go with the flow based on the crowd?
JUS PETE: I like to have a rough framework, but I always play to the crowd. Reading the room is everything. You can prepare all you want, but if the vibe shifts and you’re not adapting, you lose that connection. Some of my best sets have come from completely going off-script and trusting my instincts.
What’s a recent musical discovery that has excited or influenced you?
JUS PETE: Recently I’ve been really into the new wave of deep tech producers coming out of Europe — artists on labels like PIV and Heavy House Society. There’s this clean, groove-heavy sound that’s both minimal and full of energy. It’s inspired me to strip things back and let the rhythm do more of the talking
The life of a DJ can be demanding. How do you maintain balance and take care of your mental health?
JUS PETE: These days, I’m a lot more conscious of balance. During my first run in the scene, I went full throttle and burned out. Taking a 10-year break gave me perspective. I learned that rest, routine, and stepping away from the noise are just as important as the music itself. Now, I make time for fitness, family and generally being around the right people. It’s about staying grounded.
When you’re feeling stuck creatively, what helps you regain your flow and inspiration?
JUS PETE: I simply look at other artists, listen to mixes and gain inspiration from people I admire who are living the dream. Outside of music I hit the gym, or just listen to something completely different — hip hop is my go to when having a beak from electronic music. Sometimes the best inspiration comes when you’re not forcing it. And when I come back to the decks, I approach things with fresh ears.
How do you see yourself within the music scene and the world at large what impact do you hope to have?
JUS PETE: I want to be someone who brings back that sense of connection and authenticity to the dance floor. Music is about moments people losing themselves together. If I can create that feeling through my sets, where everyone’s in sync and present, that’s the impact I’m after.
What’s one lesson or piece of advice that has stuck with you throughout your career?
JUS PETE: Play what you love, not what’s trending. Trends come and go, I do believe your own personal taste also evolves over time. Your sound and passion are what people remember. Authenticity always wins long term.
How do you think electronic music culture is evolving in terms of inclusivity and diversity?
JUS PETE: The underground has always been about community and freedom, and it’s great to see that spirit coming back stronger than ever.
What do you think DJs can do to push the scene forward in a more meaningful way?
JUS PETE: Support each other more especially upcoming talent. Too many DJs treat it like a competition when it should be collaboration. Share music, share opportunities, and focus on the community aspect of it all. That’s how the scene grows in a healthy way. And DJs don’t hate keep your music! It’s to be shared for everyone to enjoy. I’ll always share a tracklist where I can!
If you could curate your dream lineup for a festival or event, who would be on it?
JUS PETE: That’s a tough one! I’d have Prunk, Archie Hamilton, Demi Riquísimo, Ruze, and Kellie Allen on the bill. That’s a serious groove lineup. I’d throw in a cheeky B2B at the end too, just to keep things lively.
What’s a festival, venue, or country you dream of performing in, and why?
JUS PETE: I’d love to play Cova Santa in Ibiza. The atmosphere there is unmatched it’s intimate but still has that open-air magic. I’ve been to a few PIV parties there and it’s just pure energy.
Outside of music, is there a passion project or creative goal you’d love to explore?
JUS PETE: I’ve always been into creative branding and event concepts. I’d love to eventually bring NO FAKING back as a refreshed label or event series - something that showcases underground talent and builds that sense of community again. Bringing back that UKG sound!
