INTERVIEW

How do you craft a sound that feels personal while still connecting with a wider audience?

ELLADHC: Experiment! We've unfortunately become too accustomed to hearing the same sounds and songs so f we can bring new tunes in with our regular sounds, it opens up the floor to learning new sounds.

Are there any particular artists, cultures, or experiences that have shaped your musical identity?

ELLADHC: House music! I did not expect it, but I love the way it makes me want to dance and step.

How do you keep your sets fresh and unpredictable?

ELLADHC: Constantly researching or going out the way to hear new things then applying them to my sets. It forces me to step outside the box a bit.

What's a recent musical discovery that has excited or influenced you?

ELLADHC: Britpop!

The life of a DJ can be demanding. How do you maintain balance and take care of your mental health?

ELLADHC: Prioritise health, and live a balanced lifestyle! Work hard and play hard. If I'm working late, make sure to find time to nap before. Always make sure to eat, djing on an empty stomach is the worst and affects my mood the most.

When you're feeling stuck creatively, what helps you regain your flow and inspiration?

ELLADHC: Going out. Seeing new DJ's. Seeing my favourite DJ's. Spending time with the girls. Going on holiday to new countries.

How do you see yourself within the music scene and the world at large what impact do you hope to have?

ELLADHC: I hope to be known and respected globally.. Being a woman and a DJ, you can get downplayed a lot! I'd just like to receive the respect

I think I deserve.

What's one lesson or piece of advice that has stuck with you throughout your career?

ELLADHC: Confidence is key, have fun with it!

How do you think electronic music culture is evolving in terms of inclusivity and diversity?

ELLADHC: It's constantly evolving, and blending influences of other genres and sounds. It's also slowly but surely making its way to the top amongst different cultures and people, which is nice to see especially considering where it derives from.

What do you think DJs can do to push the scene forward in a more meaningful way?

ELLADHC: Create more wholesome event spaces, not just for viral moments, but for keepsakes.

If you could curate your dream lineup for a festival or event, who would be on it?

ELLADHC: I'm not even sure but Kaytranada and Cee Gordon would definitely be on it.

What's a festival, venue, or country you dream of performing in, and why?

ELLADHC: Glastonbury! I know it would be amazinggg.

Outside of music, is there a passion project or creative goal you'd love to explore?

ELLADHC: I'd love to create a shoe line.
